Following in the footsteps of Valve's releases, Battlefield 3 will require Origin to run- retail & digital download copies alike.

See, this is why I was comfortable with steam having the monopoly on digital distribution. This means, if I want to play EA games, I have to maintain two separate programs and switch between them constantly.

Plus, knowing EA, Origin will be buggy as shiiiiiiiiiit.

This may force steam to put their prices down though. Maybe, although the Origin store is actually more expensive than Steam in pretty much everything.

Sigh.

EA might put their prices down at first; I think they full well know what they're going up against. Especially for games that are on both platforms.

Fucking hell, the VTM MMO is looking so good. Why does there have to be a monthly fee on a game I like?

By which I mean, if you're getting a computer anyway, might as well pay a little bit extra and make it able to play games. The myth that PC gaming is expensive is only perpetuated by people who don't bother to understand the computer they're building and instead just buy top components to (almost) guarantee performance. I agree that consoles are less hassle and more inclusive, but to say they're any cheaper is, I think, a mistake.

EA sucks.

To be fair, they've gotten MUCH better from the time aroundabout when Spore came out, but even still

Christ, EA...get a grip.

But they are cheaper. You don't have to buy a new TV to go with your console, you can use your existing one. A console is what, $200-$300? And how much is it to build a computer that can run games just as well as a console?

White Wolf (the writers behind the World of Darkness tabletop games) are working with CCP (EVE's devs) to produce a VTM MMO. It's a bit of a mixed thing: White Wolf have said they want to make sure the game isn't overrun by Twilight fans & encourages players to troll them, & EVE proves CCP can make a good MMO without resorting to a WOW-clone, but CCP want to include micro-transactions in the game.

Sounds like we're not getting a console port with Arkham City.
PC Gamer has described the textures on the console version as 'poor' in comparison to the PC version.
It'll also be compatible with DX11.

Far out, I don't know why I posted this earlier. Read about it months ago.

All that hubbub over DMC 5 making an unsavoury departure from the series' style & gameplay- removing style points, giving Dante limited ammo & redesigning Dante in the image of the lead dev- were to draw attention to the game. They're not going to do anything quite so stupid, though Dante is still undergoing a redesign.

Good, but I hope console gamers aren't getting shite graphics.

Also, as regards the ME3 thing, it doesn't really bother me. I never went into relationships so as long as it has slightly more RPG elements than 2, I'm okay. Sucks for people who are into the long term thing though.

Also, quote from that:

you’re not going to remember all the details from when you played that game (Mass Effect 1), right? Even I can’t recall everything that happened to me when that came out in 2007. It’s human nature. We’re not Rain Man…

Maybe, but I think he underestimates just how anal nerds can be.

That'd be just downright stupid of them; majority of the market's in consoles. I'm just really pleased because this indicates it won't be a console port.

It's less the specifics of what he talked about & more the connotations behind it. I think this attitude of making ME3 "accessible" to new players by making nothing in the previous games mean anything is nothing but trouble.
