Ozymandias spoke up.

"I've planned a five day route. Tonight we'll head to Ranger Station Charlie then one night in the wastes. Next we stay in Nipton. Then the Mojave Outpost and finally Primm. It ain't the fastest but it's the safest one besides it's easiest on my aching bones."

Mouse peered from behind a ruined dumpster as she listened in to the conversation. Novac was a dump and she slept in some disused shack last night, so her mood was not great. But when you've got all New Vegas pissed at you and the only guy you trust is missing and presumed dead, you sometimes have to take what you can get. Mouse had hitched a ride with some caravan yokels who wouldn't know her from any common traveler. But she wasn't ready to take a chance that someone in Novac would recognize her.

Watching the scene develop she decided to follow close for a while. Traveling alone was never a sure thing in the wastes and she preferred her gambling at the roulette wheel. NCR being in the mix wasn't a guarantee either. She knew she was still wanted in Shady Springs and the penalty was either going to be execution or imprisonment. Either would eventually have the same result. Still, something told her she should tag along. But, maybe not yet make her presence known. And if they discovered her, the lost wasteland girl act would probably work.

Mouse muttered to herself quietly as she looked at the morning sky. "Fine time to take a powder, Benny..."

Parelli saw the group of people were preparing to leave. There were the two men he had seen fighting earlier and some new faces too. One fine looking lady... Brown hair. Parelli liked brunettes.
He had spent his quiet time after escaping the old man cleaning himself up and scrounging around the town for a pack of cigarettes. They were probaby readily available from the dinosaur-store, but he didn't have the money to spare. He'd had to search four houses before he had any luck, and he'd nearly been caught in the process. Broken in the front door only to look out a window on the other side of the house and seen a man, presumably the owner, feeding his Brahmin. Parelli had dropped down onto his stomach and crawled back out the front door, but not before collecting a half empty packet of fags from the coffee table. Given time he suspected he could have found some caps too, maybe a change of clothes, but fortune hadn't smiled on him. He'd heard the back door open just as he left the house. Much too close for his liking.
And now here he was, leaning against a roadsign and scratching his underdeveloped chin, debating the pros and cons of running after the group of people leaving town. They looked like mercs mostly, the soldiers must have payed them to act as escorts wherever they were going... Parelli decided to take a chance and run after them. He'd feel a whole lot more secure if he was around that tall guy with the dark hair, and he'd be damned if he didn't want a slice of that brunette hooch.
"Hey, hey!" he called out to them "where are you headed?"

Ranger Station Charlie lay inactive, sleepy. A single ceiling fan spun lazily, dust drifted through shafts of sunlight coming in from the windows slow & unperturbed. Quiet static could be heard coming from the radio in one of the back rooms, punctuated by Comm Officer Stepinac inquiring for status reports, followed by, without fail, a muffled reply of 'No activity to report, Charlie'. An NCR officer listlessly flipped the pages of a ragged NCR propaganda comic book at the front desk & behind him, Kid Silver swept at the dry, bare wooden floorboards, his mind preoccupied with the infinitely more interesting.
Kid had at first been thrilled to work at Ranger Station Charlie despite the thoroughly sub-standard living & working conditions it provided, the NCR was a much more exciting employer than he'd ever had before. Surely at Ranger Station Charlie, the head of operations on the road to Novac, there would be some opportunity, some kind of kickstart into the world of fame Kid so desired on the way through, he just needed the eyes to see it & the wits to grab on. But so far his shaky employment had only proved itself as a source of NCR money, useless outside of anywhere run by the NCR & thus, filled with people more qualified than he.

Sergeant Crosby turned to face the group of assembled figures.

"My superiors would have my head, if they found out I relied on strangers for this." His forceful tone suggested he wasn't delighted about the current circumstances. "However, due to the unfortunate situation we find ourselves in, I am forced to agree with Matthews.... somewhat unorthodox ideas. Before we leave I would like you all to tell me your names and experience. I'll start I am Sergeant William Crosby. I am experienced in keeping the peace. Now you, Matthews."

"I am Corporal Douglas Matthews. I am experienced in communicating with locals." The Private smirked.

"I um Private Bruce Ryan. I um ecks-pier-e-en-sud in givin' the en-mee's of the En-Cee-Arr hell on earth!" The Sergeant's eyes rolled.

"Now you"

"Oh sorry, didn't see you there. We're heading out to Primm by way of a few other places. Care to join? Any help would be appreciated" Matthews smiled. Still repulsed by the man.

The group set off progress was slow, as certain members struggled to keep up. It was reaching midday and the sun was looming over ahead. Movements could be seen away to the east. Up in the hills, something was watching them. Keeping track of their progress.

Then with no warning a rifle cracked and the Private fell to the floor. The group hit the ground and scurried to the nearest cover, unsure of the shooter's location. Blood was leaking from the Private's skull, across the cracked road over to the group. Action needed to be taken.

Irving leaped behind a rock a fraction of a second after the private's head stopped a slug, adrenaline flooded his body as he whipped out his rifle and slammed a fresh magazine into it.

He waited for a few tense seconds, but no second shot came.

"Ok. Anyone who's still there, that shot came from the east, I highly recommend not exposing any bits of your body to that direction.

Sun's going down in awhile, if the sniper's still there, he'll have a hell of a hard time trying to pick us off in the dark. I dunno bout yall, but I'll be staying here until it goes down"

Mouse hit the dirt as soon as she heard the crack of the rifle. In the distance she could see the small group huddle around one of it's fallen members, clearly someone else had taken an interest in this traveling party. Seeing several of them brandish their guns in an east most direction, she turned her gaze in that direction. Scanning the terrain, she looked about for possible vantage points. With the intent to find some clue as to who the gunman might be. Hoping it wasn't the Omertas, or worse...

(Mouse is sneaking right now.)

Taking a peek to the east from behind the rock Caoimhe was a bit worried, snipers were always trouble, very difficult to fight and they'd be gone before you know it.

"I do not mind whatever course of action we take so long as it is nothing fucking retarded" she said obviously stressed at the situation.

She lay behind cover trying to think.

"Wait till night!" Ozymandias was outraged. "We won't make it to Charlie in time. Besides somewhere out there some dickless piece of shit is stalking us with a rifle. Who's to say he doesn't have a fucking night scope as well?"

They were fucked, pinned down in the open. " Anyone got a plan? Or are we going to have to get out the tents? "

Ozymandias sat behind the ancient automobile. It had been quiet for nearly twenty minutes now. The bastard was either picking his shots or.... No he would have done that would he?

"He should have killed us all by now!" Ozymandias called. "Somebody have a look. I can't see shit at this distance!"

Why would a marksman just shoot one man? Raiders wouldn't leave them living.... Neither would a Legion sniper....

Far away in the distance, the air was shifting. Perhaps from the heat. Beneath this, the sand was shifting. Perhaps from the wind.

Mouse combed the rock formations until she came across a single spent .308 casing. It was fresh, it had just been fired. Looking around she saw nothing of note. With the exception of this casing, whoever it was had done a good job of covering their tracks.

Mouse felt the night air chill her to the core. She left the sniper nest and crept back to watch the camp. The night air gave her cover, so she could get close and she what was going on. Examining the party more closely than she'd been able to. She recognized no one, not even the NCR flunkies. One didn't even have a gun. There were some other civilians tagging along. No one she'd ever seen before.

Mouse heard her stomach grumble. The rations she'd lifted from the caravan had run dry. She had to do something, she peered at the group. Maybe if she was quiet enough, she might be able to snag some food from their packs. Enough to get her to Primm, if that's where this traveling party was heading.

Mouse slunk close to the camp, waiting for her moment to snag something edible and vanish into the dark.

Parelli didn't respond, clearly lost in his own fantasies.

Ozymandias looked around, no volunteers? With a deep sigh, he shifted slightly so his eyes barely peeped out over his cover. He could make out some fuzzy shapes in the distant, probably hills. No one had fired, maybe the gunman had left. How peculiar....

"Uh.. guys... I can't see shit but guessing by the fact he hasn't blown of my head. I would suggest that bastard has left. Shall we move out? I reckon we can make it to Charlie in time to get a few hours sleep before morning."

Irving heard a noise coming out from behind a rock, a scream.

He ran to it, and saw the greasy chronic masturbator taking a tramp from behind. His massive 9 inch cock shot up like an arrow, he charges in a rage fueled lust, shoulder checking parelli off of her. He rips his pants off and shoves the girl's face into the dirt.

He jams his throbbing, veiny member into her, pounding away like a butcher tenderizing meat, she screams in agony as he tears apart her insides. The sight of blood on makes his lust must more intense. He balls his hand into a fist and slams it into the back of her skull again and again, he skull breaks and shes lies dead on the ground.

With the force of a thousand firehoses, he cums and the pressure is so intense it floods outside of her and soaks the ground.

Sated, he turns and pulls out a bottle of water and a rag and cleans himself.

"Right, sorry about that, she's all yours now"
