Read it. He deviated a little with Rodney by making him a bit of a wimp but it was still the same formula.

I remember enjoying his books as a kid, but Idunno if I would now. I read Stark and a couple of others. I forget which.

They're good stories, he just can't deviate from that character formula and way of bitching about modern pop culture through his books.

Currently reading the Artemis Fowl books again, as part of my current nostalgia trip (Also watched the Harry Potter films). I don't do nostalgia very often so this is a big deal for me.

I'm also reading the novel The Third Policeman, by Flann O'Brien. Absolutely bizarre.

Since the AUD is so good at the moment I can get comics from the UK for $7 including shipping.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck yeeeeeeeeessssssss. The only local comic stores would be parting with them for $15-$20.

So uh, this is kinda late and I doubt it means shit to anyone but Peter Parker died in the main Marvel canon.

It'll be interesting to see if they pull a Superman and bring him back, with the benefit of hindsight knowing that doing that to your signature cape just fucks everyone off.

I give it 1 year before they bring him back. and they didnt quite kill him off... its Doc Oc in Spidermans body.

Also this is coming toward "most stupid things done to spiderman" right up there with the Clone Saga and One More Day.

Just finished reading CC2 for the second time. Really like reading books again and both of these books are going to get a third read some time. I'm now going to move onto Jack Dempsey's book "How to Fight Tough" a short little manual he wrote. Could give me some decent ideas for shadow boxing as well as an insight on some dirty fighting tactics. Looking forward to my other books I got coming.

Second move in the book is kneeing them in the balls. To which he says:

"By now it should be apparent that war is not fought by the Marquis of Queensberry rules, so if you had any such dangerous notion now is the time to get it out of your mind"

Is it a good book so far? Very tempted to read this after reading about Jack Dempsey. The man made a living by walking into bars and saying "I can't sing and I can't dance, but I can lick any SOB in the house." You have to respect that!

Read it already. I didn't know when I bought it that it was a manual to WW2 American Servicemen but it was a bloody good read. Might have to memorize and practice some of the moves in it because they are fucking brutal.

I recommend it to everyone cause it's damn interesting but I get a feel Kharloth would definitely get a kick out of it. Think it only cost me 4 pounds and took half an hour to read.

Joe you really really need to read Dempsey's Championship Fights.

This is the first three lines.

What would happen if a year-old baby fell from a fourth-floor window onto the head of a burly truck driver, standing on the sidewalk?
It's practically certain that the truckman would be knocked unconscious. He might die of brain concussion or a broken neck.
Even an innocent little baby can become a dangerous missile WHEN ITS BODY-WEIGHT IS SET INTO FAST MOTION.

It's pretty good actually, the chapters are short and sweet and it's written in very well. There's some autobiograghical bits in there and it all ties together very well. It would make an amazing audiobook if it was read by someone like Tommy Lee Jones. Dempsey is a very practical writer and he uses his own experience as a good illustrator of his ideas. I'm on the third chapter and you really can't find fault with it.

Admittedly certain parts of the book need updating from 1920's talk.

Let me suggest that any time you are about to be drawn into a fight, keep your head and make a split-second survey of your surroundings.
Decide immediately whether you have fighting-room and whether you have good footing. If you haven't, try to force your opponent to shift to another battleground, where your knowledge of fighting will leave the percentage in your favor.

Yell at him, for example: "Okay, wise guy! You want to fight! Let's see if you've got the guts to come out into the street and fight me like a man!"

EDIT: I really feel the need to add this but Dempsey is a fucking brilliant writer. Despite having little formal education (as far as I am aware) and the potential for ghost-writing, that book is so goddamn easy to read.

Re-reading "The Naked Warrior" while I'm waiting on my other books. Forgotten how good Pavel is, really looking forward to Beyond Bodybuilding. If anyone is interested in learning some DAMN effective strength tricks certainly pick up a copy of this book. It teaches you all about muscle software and you can massively improve your strength (in short bursts) with NO extra workouts.

It teaches you all about muscle software and you can massively improve your strength (in short bursts) with NO extra workouts.

Is it a long read? Thinking of picking that up.

Also fuuuck! Championship Fighting costs £160 yet a signed portrait of Jack Dempsey only costs £20. FUCK YOU SYSTEM!

Yeah I've found it elsewhere for a helluva lot cheaper but I'm just going to get it from the library first.

Also it's a reasonably long read it's just expensive cause it comes from Dragon Door in 'murrika.

Where? I want to buy that shit up!

I've read a few chapters online and I'd like the paperback cause from now on I'm running on Dempsey time!
