Tell us their reactions, I'm curious.

Session 9 only has a 6.6 rating on IMDb. They have no appreciation for horror there.

You do live right next to Asia 2: Kangaroo edition.
I might snoop around chinatown's video stores if the local ones don't yield anything.

That's a good idea. There's a horror speciality movie shop near where my friend goes to uni, I'll see if there's anything there. I think it's mostly old B movies though.

When did you watch it?

Watched The Changeling just then. The 1980 film, not the 2008 one. Fucking garbage. Boring, uninnovative, predictable dog shit. Critics don't know what the fuck they are talking about, that was absolute bullocks.

Also, watched The Devil's Backbone last night. Not sure if you'd call it a horror movie exactly, but it was quality.

I didn't find that so bad, probably for the poor CGI.
That whole scene was pretty damn spooky though. But I gotta ask, what was with those ghost cats mewling at the start? This film actually made a pretty straightforward plotline for a Japanese horror but I don't think they ever really tied that up.

Also have you seen The Orphanage?

Watched Mulholland Dr. for the first time. Confusing as hell, like Memento, so I'll have to watch it again in a couple of days. I can't believe I haven't seen it before though. It was absolutely fantastic. The actors are perfect, the emotions they portray are brilliantly directed. Lynch is a genius, maybe a bit before his time though.

Psychological thriller at it's best.

@Milky: Did you ever watch Lake Mungo? I re-watched it a few days ago and found it just as suspenseful. I rate it quite highly because Paranormal Activity is the only other (Western) movie I've seen with the same mocumentary style, and that was shit. Plus Mungo is an Aussie film, and they're typically full of long, unnecessary silences. This however isn't.

Yeah, it was pretty good. Definitely sold the realism better than any other mockumentary horror I've seen.

Watched this Norwegian movie called Troll Hunter the other night. Sounds lame but it definitely wasn't, great shit. Really sad too. Reminded me a lot of shadow of the colossus.

Gotta revive this. Watched The Sentinel (1977) last night. Good shit, one of the better examples of the "woman moves into apartment with creepy (usually demonic) tenants" genre. Similar to Rosemary's Baby, but a fair bit better. Creepier atmosphere, better pay off and more interesting characters. Doesn't hurt that it was surprisingly gruesome as well.

Another movie I forgot to post in here. Well, there's been hundreds but most of them I can't remember that clearly.

Splinter: pretty solid monster horror. Decent characters as far as the genre goes, effective use of the setting and a good, creative monster. Actually, I'd say a really good monster. Original and pretty fucking freaky. I dug the monster.
