Had this strange beer the other day, can't remember what it was called but it almost tasted sweet, like grapes.

I've been drinking Captain Morgan most of my life, anyone got any good/better white or spiced rum brands that I should try?

Captain Morgans is the shit. Goes well with JD and vodka and a pint. All in a line and you gotta down them all. Good way to test if someone drinks.

Last time I was at my brother's I read his book of cocktails (he's a barman/waiter at a casino) and discovered something called a Voodoo d'Anjou. Last time I was at a house party I made an attempt at making one, twas nom. Here's the proper recipe:

1 oz. Absolut Pears Vodka
3/4 oz. Absolut Vanilia Vodka
1/4 oz. Lime Juice
Lemon Lime Soda

Shake vodka and lime juice with ice; strain. Pour into a highball glass over ice. Fill to top with lemon lime soda. Garnish with a lemon and lime wedge or a pear slice.

What amounts of each ingredient?

My favourite Cocktail is a Tuscan Muel. It's so damn good.

I'd buy it no matter what it was, with a name like that.

I think I have seen that before in a speciality shop in Dublin. I recognize the logo.

Cherry Brandy.

One of the few spirits I'll happily drink straight.

I can do Scotch straight relatively well but I must combine it with a miserable monologue.

It was a dime a dozen situation, quite literally, forked out so many dimes to get into this joint. I did not want to be there. I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings. I guess I had to fly right about then.

Loud electro music pumped into my ears. As I sipped from the grimy grey glass of cheap whiskey and stared at the masses pumping their arms to music. It was like simon says with a disco ball and lights. I would have laughed, if I could have remembered how.

Another night at another piece of shit club in the middle of corrupt town slap -bang in Dead End street.

Jägermeister is pretty good. It's not as strong as people make it out to be, both in taste and alcohol content. It actually tastes really sweet so it's pretty easy to drink it straight. It's basically a slightly weaker and more minty sambuca.

White russians are amazing too, but they can be meh if you don't get the mixes right. I make them with Tia Maria, vodka, a dash of Baileys then milk.

Also Jack Daniels and Pepsi. So good.

Joey. I brought a can of red stripe today. I'll admit I prefer it over the big couple like Fosters, Carling and like Kroner. Need more pubs that have it on tap.

Also, Budvar Dark is fucking lush. Spoons finally got it back in the cooler. Drinking that is heaven.

Re: PayJ reviews Alcoholic Beverages

Post by ggggggggggg on Sat Aug 25, 2012 1:48 am

Pffft, fire. That's the bohemian method, dont be so barbaric

Traditionally, absinthe is prepared by placing a sugar cube on top of a specially designed slotted spoon, and then placing the spoon on the glass which has been filled with a measure of absinthe. Iced water is then poured or dripped over the sugar cube in a manner whereby the water is slowly and evenly displaced into the absinthe, such that the final preparation contains 1 part absinthe and 3-5 parts water. As water dilutes the spirit, those components with poor water solubility (mainly those from anise, fennel, and star anise) come out of solution and cloud the drink. The resulting milky opalescence is called the louche . The release of these dissolved essences coincides with a perfuming of herbal aromas and flavours that "blossom" or "bloom", and brings out subtleties that are otherwise muted within the neat spirit. This reflects what is perhaps the oldest and purest method of preparation, and is often referred to as the French Method.

Thats how you drink absinthe with class

Absinth and Root Beer. Root beer tastes sort of like liquorice anyway (and fennel with aniseed) so the two together is great. also you get drunk superfast due to the fizz.
