Spellsword is gay. Full mages don't overcompensate like you dildo-users.

Funny. You mages sure love your staves long.

Anyways, let's see you skirt-wearing cowards dual-cast when you've got a sword jammed between your ribs.

What's that? You have a restoration spell? Too bad I can do combined one-handed and destruction damage faster than you can heal.

Really? I just can't imagine what opposite thing it is you do...the quest is pretty much straight forward, though I only did it once so maybe I'm forgetting where you can switch it up.

Either you have Azura purge it from evil spirits, or you have some renegade mage do it who wants to rid it off her influence.

True dat, but I never use heavy armor.

Thus far only made an argonian stealth archer (no thieves or DB). Finished the short mages questline even though I didn't want to...

Altmer pur mage, no armor, kept dying, still have em, but rage too much.

Orc two handed warrior who I deleted and replaced with the next character because two handed sucks.

Kajhiit duel wielding dagger thief and DB run. No enchanting, just smithing, and alchemy.

I fucking love my Orc two-handed beserker.
Only downside is I can't play him as a good character any more, because he just looks like like Sauron.

Maybe if I get a horse I can turn him into like a Punisheresque justice-above-the-law type.

Meeko the Dog.

I love him to bits - his mannerisms have got to be the most life-like portrayal of a dog I've yet seen on a game (not like that stupid Fallout 3 dog)

But he's so infuriating. He stands in the way of doorways should you enter a room not big enough for him to follow you in to. Unlike companions you can talk to you cannot command him to 'stand there' or whatever. Hence you have to nudge him out of the way by way of whacking him with your fist/mace/ubersword of doom.

I thought this was stupid but then I remembered the million bajillion times my dog has stood in the way of people and not understood that he's in the way (or if he does he doesn't understand we're trying to get past him in X direction and often makes everything worse by moving)

Congratulations Bethesda - you've recreated a dog like-for-like

I don't understand why everyone considers the dragons such a major threat in Skyrim, considering that a third of the people there are unkillable.

Lot's of things, like this, I feel should of either been revised or omitted.

I prefer Morrowind in that respect. You can still finish the story anyway in your own way. That would of certainly really showed Raidant Storytelling at it's finest if Skyrim allowed you to complete the main quest without interacting with a single NPC.

Post by Mr. Wiggles on Mon Jan 02, 2012 3:14 pm

Maybe I'm maturing, but I am bored shitless of Skyrim. Have two level thirty saves (An Dual axe barbarian/ berserker Orc and a Shneaky archer/dual dagger Bosmer) between which I have done almost all miscellanous quests, many ambient, thieves, DB, all daedric except boethiah and peryite, stormcloaks, dragonborn quests but not the mages oh and most Jarl quests. Need to get the last dragon mask but cannot be fucked...

Gold is more or less pointless after a certain level. Objects, artefacts, weapons become pointless as well because if you can't wear them and if you can't be bothered to sell them then what the fuck can you do? Put them on display in your house where they just glitch and vanish? Nowadays, I am yet to leave treasure behind but this is mostly out of routine. A routine which increasingly becomes more pointless.

I can't even have killing sprees thanks to the ridiculous number of ultra NPCs. When it was first used in fallout 3, only a VERY VERY small number of NPCs had those powers. To be frank, it's just plain ridiculous.

Still got BF3 to play until I can forgive Rimmy and I am yet to play through MW3 so that's an alternative. OH and nobody suggest mods. I play 360. (God that sounded horrible)

Dragons are pathetic once A) you reach a certain level

or

B) Do 3/4 of the main story and learn Dragonrend or Odahving.

Making monies is. If the shitty system worked...

Wut?

Grinding for gold to me is easily the most boring aspect of any RPG, although I do like how in Skyrim moolah is rather easy to acquire. The only reason I bother with money in the game is because I need it to buy spellbooks and reliable health potions. I'd much rather be exploring some Dwenmer ruin looking for relics to decorate my house with, or challenging myself by trying to slay a giant at level 3 rather than sitting at a forge making a dozen steel helmets to sell.

Exploration is boring to me. It boils down to wandering into copypaste dungeon/ruin/castle/cave killing all of the copypaste vampires/bandits/mages and taking all of the copypaste enchanted items.

Challenging myself ends up with

A) Saving beforehand. Charging at enemy. Dying. Reloading. Charging dying reloading. Until victory or raging frustration

B) Not saving. Dying. Losing five minutes of what feels like the most important actions of the entire playthrough. Rage Rage Rage. Give up.

Do you set specific challenges for yourself? Such as playing the entire game only wearing fur armour, or turning into a werewolf and murdering a non-essential NPC once a day until only unkillable NPCs populate an entire town?

I decide to roleplay my Argonian barbarian as being a Skooma-addicted madman who's convinced that he's a Breton from the Reach. He puts on Forsworn armour and goes around attacking patrols or raiding backwater settlements. He also has an excessive appetite along with an obsession with sweetrolls and cheese.

Not really. Might give it a shot. I don't tend to be too creative unless it's for someone else's enjoyment. I'm more about achieving and completing things. I do tend to just play myself as whatever character I am. EG I think Thalmar are dicks so I kill them all the time.

Xandy wrote:Do you set specific challenges for yourself? Such as playing the entire game only wearing fur armour, or turning into a werewolf and murdering a non-essential NPC once a day until only unkillable NPCs populate an entire town?

Not really. I play for the sense of achievement I get and generally play by my own morals. EG Don't kill innocents (Yet I still steal from people. I suppose they don't actually need or use their possessions though. That's why I never liked pickpocketing. Possibly.)

In my experience most of the dungeons were unique. Besides, you've had fun with the game already which means it was worth buying and getting in the first place. Game's a game, eventually you'll get bored. Skyrim never claimed to be the messiah.

If you hate exploration, then why do you play it? I mean, it's got a fairly good story and it's very deep, but really, the true appeal of it is exploration and finding new things. In fact, the appeal of any Bethesda game has been the same!

The dungeons are not copy/paste. Sure, they may use some resources from one another but the design and layout of each is not quite the same at all. Also note many places in the game tell little stories purely through visuals or even journals. I really like stumbling upon a house with a bear inside it to find a corpse ripped down to the bone. It shows, not tells, me that this body was eaten by this bear.

Not many games even attempt to tell the story through pure visuals or through gameplay. Skyrim does both to a decent extent. Shadow of the Colossus and ICO still hold the crown for that though.

Don't get me wrong, I love exploration in itself and I have enjoyed most other Bethesda games. But in Skyrim I find it grows tedious after a while. To be fair, I think I may have just played it too fast seeing as it was all I played until Christmas more or less. And boy did I play it!

From my experience with Bethesda games (Fallout new vegas and oblivion) the games should take a good few leaves from Stalkers book. I mean imagine a whole A-life system controlling the world or whatever. Maybe in the future when computers are even more powerful we'll be able to accomplish such things. It will be epic.

Such a system would definitely keep the whole game fresh for alot longer.
